GBR Recruitment are working in close partnership with a well-established progressive Main Contractor Construction business, recruiting for an experienced Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor to manage multiple new build construction site projects. This well-respected long-standing Main Contractor builds large scale complex structures including Warehouse Distribution Centres, Factories, Commercial Offices, Education Facilities, Healthcare Facilities, and New Build Housing, making for a highly interesting varied QS role, ideal for a time-served QS who wants to utilise their varied skills and experience, with each working week offering a different challenge.

As a Senior Quantity Surveying professional, you will be responsible for all build budgets and build costs, working on large scale construction projects from the initial design and conception stage, right through the build phases to the full build completion and handover. You will be preparing accurate monthly site valuations covering major builds across Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, South Yorkshire and other areas across the Midlands. In this varied role, you will be working on JCT and NEC contract builds. You must be a seasoned QS that has strong experience in CDM regulations, phased Construction and having had exposure to a multitude of different Construction projects across multiple industry sectors and building types.

QS Role Duties:
  • To assist with managing the commercial elements of multiple complex construction sites, from inception to completion, across multiple build sectors.
  • Involvement in all procurement, payments, measures, cost management, valuations, build estimates, project variation costings, project/build forecasting and cost value reporting.
  • Management of all site budgets and build/material costs.
  • Assisting with the preparation of accurate monthly site valuations.
  • Payments of direct and subcontractor trades.
  • Analyse, query and approve sub-contractor invoices/applications.
  • Manage monthly sub-contractor payments.
  • Keep Payment Record Sheets up-to-date following completion of each payment run.
  • Prepare monthly cost/value reconciliation and variations.
  • Prepare sub-contractor procurement tender list.
  • Prepare tender documents/packs and send out to the relevant sub-contractors.
  • Analyse tender submissions and select sub-contractors/award tenders for works (best price and quality).
Skills, Qualifications & Experience Required:
  • BSc Hons Degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction related degree or time served in a QS capacity.
  • Several years experience at an intermediate or senior QS level.
  • Experience across multiple industry sector construction build types.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a right first-time approach and quality focused.
  • Knowledge of CDM Regulations, plus experience of NEC and JCT contract works (£10M+).
