GBR Recruitment are working exclusively with a general building company, recruiting for a Junior Material Planner / Material Planner to ensure that the correct materials are available on site as needed, managing materials inventory, coordinating materials with suppliers & ensuring the supply chain meets construction schedules. This role is vital for keeping building projects on time & within budget. This is a great opportunity to join a small office team working on various construction projects such as renovations, refurbishments, kitchen & bathroom fit outs, extensions, HMO’s developments, general construction works & more, so no day is the same. Projects range from £20K - £500K.
Key Responsibilities:
- Material Requirements Planning (MRP): Monitoring material demand forecasts, customer orders, create accurate material plans & generate purchase orders.
- Inventory Management: Maintaining optimal stock levels to avoid both shortages (stockouts) & to avoid overstocking materials, plus other auxiliary items.
- Supplier Coordination: Liaising with suppliers to place orders (building merchants, hardware stores etc.), track shipments, resolve discrepancies or delays.
- Logistics: Coordinating the supply & delivery of materials, ensuring they arrive at the point of use on time, so works can be completed on time in full.
- Stock / Materials Records: Creating & maintaining accurate records of inventory & details of current stock levels, plus stock orders required to complete building works.
- Problem Solving: Dealing with materials order issues & materials delivery issues.
- Collaboration: Working closely with permanent & sub-contract trades.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Junior Materials Planner, Junior Materials Coordinator, Inventory Clerk, Stock Clerk, Stock Controller, Inventory Coordinator, Inventory Controller, Materials Coordinator, Materials Assistant, Materials Scheduler, Business Support Coordinator, Project Coordinator, Office Coordinator or similar, ideally within a construction environment.
- Some construction exposure.
- Strong planning & coordinating skills.
