GBR Recruitment Ltd are proud to be working in partnership with a leading specialist Recycling / Material Handling machinery manufacturing business, recruiting for an experienced Project Engineer / Project Design Engineer who is highly proficient in using Solid Works & Auto CAD design software.

As the Project Engineer you will be strong in designing sheet metal fabricated parts & large structural components for large scale machinery (cutting, bending, moulding, forming & assembling processes), plus with strong knowledge of weldments & designing high capital machinery solutions within automated MHE conveyor systems / recycling systems (compactors, balers, tippers, feeders etc.).

If you are keen to lead & project manage the design, manufacturing & installation of high capital specialist machinery & if you possess strong detailing of fabricated products experience, along with 2D & 3D draughting using Solid Works 3D design software. then this could be the ideal project engineering role for you.

Project Engineer Duties

  • Responsible for the engineering & technical disciplines needed to complete all specialist machinery designs, builds & installations.
  • To produce general arrangement drawings in 3D and/or 2D in Solid Works / Auto CAD, creating a tailored manufacturing plant layout within the space available without compromising material flow within the clients recycling plants.
  • Playing a key part in the whole project from initial concept through design, release, manufacturing, testing & commissioning of the installed recycling plant machinery (conveyors, shredders, feeders, balers, compactors etc.).
  • Create & release BOM’s (Bill of Materials) on the MRP system.
  • Produce a number of technical documents including manufacturing manuals & operating manuals.
  • Defining the machinery's required technical specifications, in order to meet the customers requirements as well as complying with legislation.
  • Carry out site surveys, checking measurements for the installation of specialist recycling machinery, ensuring requirements can be met.
  • Playing a key role in supporting the machinery installation, commissioning & testing processes, ensuring the works are finished to a high standard & OTIF.
  • Working on continuous improvement measures, analysing the costings of the recycling machinery build proposals & projects, looking at ways of refining build / install processes & ways of reducing costs without compromising on the quality of the machinery build.
  • Appraise all machinery build & installation sales proposals critically & constructively, to ensure customer orders can be met & to ensure that risk mitigation in terms of manufacturing costs etc. can be controlled in line with company expectations, ensuring the desired profits / margins are achieved, as well as a high quality install.
  • Liaising regularly with both suppliers & customers to ensure processes are refined.

Attributes

  • A time-served experienced Project Engineer, Project Design Engineer, Design Engineer, Product Engineer, Development Engineer, Industrial Design Engineer, Project Manager, Project Lead, Program Manager, Industrial Designer or similar.
  • HNC, HND or Degree qualified (all considered).
  • Strong in machinery design, machinery layout design, project management & document control
  • Strong in using Solid Works (essential).
  • Experience also in using Auto CAD (beneficial).
  • Tekla experience is beneficial (not a must)
  • Strong in 2D & 3D draughting.
  • Strong knowledge of fabrication & sheet metal work.
  • High capital machinery design support experience.
  • Recycling machinery experience
  • MHE conveyor systems experience (belts, rollers, overheads, automotive, vertical, incline, gravity or similar) is useful.

The position is commutable from Northampton, Kettering, Corby, Burton Latimer, Rushden, Thrapston, Wellingborough, Raunds, Rushton, Rothwell, Desborough, Uppingham, Market Harborough, Leicester, Milton Keynes, Bedford, Stamford, Oakham, those looking to relocate to these areas would also be considered.
