About the role

The Assistant Estates Manager (AEM) plays a key supporting role in helping the gbpartnerships Estates Manager (EM) deliver estate management services under the Management Services Agreement (MSA) for seven hub West Scotland (hWS) Project Companies. These services cover twelve diverse facilities across Glasgow and the West of Scotland, including community health centres, mental health units, and educational buildings ranging from 2,000m² to 12,000m². The AEM contributes to ensuring these facilities are safe, compliant, and well-maintained, supporting quality environments for healthcare, education, and social services.

In addition to assisting with day-to-day estate management, the AEM helps monitor the performance of Facilities Management Service Providers (FMSPs) against contractual Service Level Specifications. This includes using KPIs to report on service delivery and supporting communication with stakeholders such as Project Co Boards, public sector authorities, and building occupants. The AEM also aids in property inspections, data analysis, and reporting, and may occasionally support other gbp Estates Managers overseeing around 80 NHS LIFTCo facilities in England. This broad remit ensures consistent standards and operational assurance across a significant portfolio of public sector buildings.

Qualifications

  • A good all-round level of general education including GCSEs/ National 5 or equivalent
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Evidence of developing effective and positive working relationships internally and externally
  • Proficient in the use of the full Microsoft Office suite of software
  • Ability to work independently, organise own workload maintaining high quality output and meeting deadlines and targets.
  • Ability to identify potential problems before they arise and determine effective and innovative solutions.

Working and travel requirements

A lot of our activity can be delivered remotely, and home-based working is normal practice. However, based on the nature of the work you are assigned to, and the location of our clients, the incumbent will be required to regularly travel within Scotland (primarily the Glasgow and West region), and travel nationally as required. You must also have a full, clean driving licence and own / have regular access to a vehicle to travel to our sites and clients.
