About the Role
We are currently seeking a reliable and hardworking Cemetery Operative to join our client's team based in Brentwood. This is a physically demanding outdoor role that plays an important part in maintaining cemetery grounds to a high standard while supporting burial operations with professionalism and respect. The position is initially seasonal to support the busy summer period, with the possibility of becoming a permanent role for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting with the preparation, excavation, and reinstatement of burial plots.
- Operating mini diggers and other grounds maintenance equipment safely and effectively.
- Carrying out general grounds maintenance duties including:
- Grass cutting and mowing
- Strimming
- Hedge trimming
- Leaf and debris blowing
- General landscaping and upkeep
- Ensuring cemetery grounds are maintained to a high standard at all times.
- Assisting with grave preparation and backfilling operations.
- Maintaining equipment and reporting any defects or maintenance requirements.
- Working respectfully around visitors, funeral services, and memorial areas.
- Following all health and safety procedures.
Requirements
- Previous experience operating a mini digger is essential.
- Experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, horticulture, or a similar outdoor environment.
- Confident using strimmers, blowers, mowers, and other grounds maintenance equipment.
- Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong work ethic with a respectful and professional approach.
- Full UK driving licence preferred.
