We're Hiring! Transport Operations Co-ordinator at GBA Logistics

Location: Warrington | Full-time, working a rolling 4 on 4 off shift pattern, 07:00 - 19:00 Salary: £28,500 - £30,633

The Role

As our new Transport Operations Co-ordinator, you'll play a vital role in delivering the daily transport plan, ensuring drivers, vehicles, routes, and workloads are coordinated efficiently to meet customer service levels and contractual requirements.

You'll monitor live transport operations throughout the day, resolve issues in real time, maintain accurate updates across transport systems, and act as a key point of contact for customers, drivers, and internal teams.

With a strong focus on compliance, safety, communication, and continuous improvement, you'll help keep our operation running smoothly and support effective communication and handovers across shifts.

Key Responsibilities For Transport Operations Co-ordinator

  • Deliver the daily transport plan, ensuring operational efficiency, service levels, and contractual requirements are achieved.
  • Dispatch drivers with the appropriate vehicles, routes, and workloads, making real-time adjustments to optimise performance.
  • Monitor live transport operations throughout the shift, proactively resolving issues to maintain fleet utilisation and on-time delivery.
  • Act as a key point of contact for customers, drivers, and internal teams, providing timely updates and professional communication.
  • Ensure full compliance with Drivers' Hours Regulations, the Working Time Directive, Operator Licence requirements, company policies, and health and safety procedures.
  • Conduct driver briefings and debriefings, complete audits, and support initial incident and accident investigations, escalating where required.
  • Maintain accurate, real-time updates within the Transport Management System, vehicle tracking platforms, and other operational systems.
  • Support drivers with route diversions, access restrictions, breakdowns, delays, and other operational challenges.
  • Liaise with warehouse, planning, customer service, and operations teams to ensure continuity of service and effective handovers.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational performance, reduce costs, and enhance customer service.
  • Complete transport documentation, compliance records, and operational reports accurately and within required timescales.
  • Promote a positive safety culture and support the training, coaching, and development of drivers by reinforcing company standards and best practices.

About You

  • Strong transport operations knowledge, ideally within logistics, distribution, or a fast-paced transport environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise confidently with drivers, customers, and internal teams.
  • Good organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make effective decisions under pressure.
  • Strong attention to detail when maintaining records, updating systems, and completing compliance documentation.
  • Understanding of transport compliance, including Drivers' Hours Regulations, Working Time Directive, and health and safety requirements.
  • Confident using transport management systems, vehicle tracking platforms, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • A proactive and flexible approach, with the ability to support operational changes and maintain service levels throughout the shift.
  • A positive team-focused attitude, with a commitment to safety, customer service, and continuous improvement.
