Overview
The health and safety responsibilities within the Dedicated Fleet Business Unit, reporting to the General Manager — Dedicated Fleet, will lead health safety performance across all depots and customer operations. You will own our ISO framework (ISO 45001, ISO 9001, ISO 14001) and all related accreditations, working closely with transport teams, focusing on people safety, behavioural safety, operational risk and ISO systems.

Responsibilities
- Lead operational risk assessments (RAs), SSOWs, RAMS and depot hazard logs
- Conduct H&S audits, yard flow assessments, pedestrian segregation reviews and depot inspections
- Lead incident, accident and near‑miss investigations and implement CAPA actions
- Deliver training: toolbox talks, inductions, behavioural safety coaching, shift‑based safety routines
- Own and maintain the H&S training matrix for all depots, ensuring all mandatory training is completed, recorded and kept up to date
- Improve depot layouts (segregation, lighting, walkways, barriers, signage)
- Support customer audit compliance where H&S is required
- Manage contractor and visitor safety including induction, RAMS approval, and on‑site H&S controls
- Lead and maintain ISO frameworks, managing internal and external audits, corrective actions and document control
- Support sustainability and environmental compliance
- Drive a proactive safety culture across all dedicated fleet sites, with regular communications, reports and KPIs
- Ensure compliance with UK Health and Safety legislation
- Manage site emergency preparedness
Qualifications
- NEBOSH General Certificate minimum (Diploma preferred)
- Experience in logistics/transport/warehousing H&S
- Proven ISO management experience (implementing or maintaining)
- Strong communication, coaching and influencing skills
- Comfortable working across sites, in yards, with drivers and front‑line teams
- IOSH membership (TechIOSH minimum; GradIOSH desirable)
- Commitment to Continuous Professional Development (CPD)
