The role of Associate Director, Pipeline Intelligence and Reporting offers a unique opportunity to support how Development leaders evaluate pipeline performance, risks, and opportunities by transforming complex data into insights that drive better portfolio decisions, improve implementation and ultimately help bring innovative medicines to patients faster.
Job Description
As an Associate Director, Pipeline Intelligence and Reporting, you will manage and enhance project and pipeline data, reporting, and analytics to support operational and strategic decision-making across Novartis Development. The role ensures accurate, consistent, and accessible data; translates complex analyses into clear business implications and recommendations; and partners across functions to monitor performance, identify trends, risks, and opportunities, and continuously improve reporting and portfolio outcomes. Success requires strong analytical rigor, structured problem-solving, senior stakeholder management, and the ability to independently drive alignment and initiatives without direct authority. Deep Therapeutic Area expertise is beneficial but not essential; the ability to apply strong analytical thinking, business acumen, and to rapidly learn and apply knowledge in new contexts will be of critical importance.
Major Accountabilities
- Develop, deliver, and continuously improve pipeline reports and analytics that provide actionable insights for operational and strategic decisions.
- Manage project and pipeline data, ensuring accuracy, consistency, accessibility, and effective integration across relevant systems.
- Apply quality controls and harmonize data standards and reporting frameworks in line with approved processes, governance, and compliance requirements.
- Track key performance indicators, benchmark performance, and identify emerging trends, risks, opportunities, and business questions.
- Analyse complex data and translate findings into clear implications, recommendations, and actionable next steps for leadership.
- Partner with cross-functional and senior stakeholders to align priorities, incorporate feedback, and influence reporting and analytics outcomes without direct authority.
- Provide timely ad hoc analytical and reporting support for senior management and cross-functional initiatives.
- Independently apply structured problem-solving, external best practices, and innovative approaches to improve analytics, reporting, and business processes.
Essential Requirements
Graduate degree in life sciences (ideally Master’s or equivalent required); advanced scientific, data science, or business education is an advantage. Typically 8–10 years of experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or a related industry, including at least 5 years in drug development, project management, or portfolio analytics. Experience in cross-functional, international, or multidisciplinary environments, with familiarity with the drug development lifecycle, portfolio processes, and R&D operations. Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and structured problem-solving skills, with experience framing ambiguous questions and developing actionable recommendations. Demonstrated ability to translate complex data into clear business insights and compelling recommendations for senior leadership. Experience influencing senior stakeholders and driving alignment across complex, matrixed organizations without direct authority. Proven ability to work independently, lead initiatives with minimal oversight, manage multiple priorities, and identify opportunities for improvement and innovation. Effective communicator who can tailor messages to different audiences; proactive, curious, and committed to continuous learning. Fluent in English, oral and written.

Expected Annual Base Salary Range for role: £ 67,900.00 - 126,100.00 GBP Annual. The base salary offered is determined based on gender-neutral objectives, such as relevant skills, competencies and experience in accordance with the Novartis pay setting policy and upon joining Novartis will be reviewed periodically. In addition to your base salary, you may be eligible for a performance-based bonus depending on certain performance parameters.
