An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Consumer North and Gateways leadership team as Director of Finance. This high-impact role will see you at the heart of a dynamic operation spanning five sites, supporting a diverse mix of closed-book and open-book customers. As a key member of the senior management team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future success of the business. You'll drive growth across the sites by unlocking opportunities to fill vacant space, while also leading the charge on delivering sustainable operational efficiencies. This is a fantastic opportunity to influence strategic direction, partner closely with operational leaders, and make a tangible difference to performance and profitability.

Responsibilities

  • Provide financial leadership, governance and support as a senior finance business partner.
  • Drive, influence and manage solutions to minimise financial and commercial risk on existing contracts and improve efficiency, profitability and cash flow.
  • Provide appropriate analysis and recommendations to influence decision-making process.
  • Ensure that changes in commercial and financial requirements are communicated and implemented promptly.
  • Build solid relationships with both external and internal customers to foster collaboration, networking & best practice.
  • Support the finance business partners and operations teams to deliver efficient start-ups and projects and ensure effective commercial propositions are developed and implemented.
  • Manage and influence multiple stakeholders – internal: collaboration within BU peer group, UKI Commercial team, UKI finance team, Accenture, PWC and own area finance team; external – day-to-day customer relationships including their finance team.
  • Drive and influence commercial issues and discussions with the Customers around issues such as rate reviews, KPI and gain-share performance, or changes in contract.
  • Ensure financial and customer reporting & forecasting aids effective decision making and monitors progress.
  • Drive and deliver BU and UKI strategy.
  • Monitor and drive financial controls to ensure they are highly effective and compliant with group policies and are maintained and communicated.
  • Influence and manage financial risk through a thorough understanding of commercial terms, ongoing performance, and other influencing factors.
  • Influence and drive sources of gross profit delivery including flex budgets, gain-share, KPIs, pricing mechanisms etc.
  • As required support the preparation of contracts & business cases from a commercial & financial perspective, working with other stakeholders (e.g. legal, risk, property, tax) to ensure profit optimisation & risk mitigation (where not supported by the commercial team).
  • Actively manage, develop and motivate Finance team.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Accountant – ICAEW, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent (ESSENTIAL).
  • Master’s degree in finance, economics, business administration or similar.
  • 5-10 years’ financial experience within logistics, supply chain or similar customer-centric large business.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in one of the following roles: similar role in another company (subsidiary), leadership role, business management, financial auditing.
