This role requires enhanced security clearance due to the working environment. Candidates must be able to meet all security and vetting requirements associated with working within a prison setting and must be able to provide a minimum of three years' current and continuous UK address history as part of the vetting process.
About the role
We are DHL Supply Chain, the world’s leading logistics company. One of our contracts involves running warehouses inside prisons, where inmates order basic goods that they pay for with their own funds. We manage the picking, packing and distribution of these orders. We are now looking for a Warehouse Manager who will play an integral role in the prisoners’ lives, working with a diverse team to support their rehabilitation.
Responsibilities
- Assisting the Regional Manager with the day-to-day running of the warehouse operation based onsite within the prison
- Overseeing daily warehouse activities while supervising and coordinating a team of prisoners
- Managing, supporting and developing Warehouse Supervisors, Team Leaders, and Order Distributors
- Maintaining accurate stock control and ensuring effective inventory management across the warehouse
- Monitoring operational performance and driving the achievement of key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Managing the site budget and identifying opportunities for cost reduction and operational efficiencies
- Providing operational support to other sites when required
- Ensuring full compliance with Health & Safety policies and all prison rules and regulations
- Maintaining and updating staff training and induction programmes to ensure all team members are properly trained
This role would suit
- Have experience leading, managing, or supervising a team, with the ability to motivate staff, delegate tasks effectively, and maintain a productive and positive working environment
- Have previous experience working within a warehouse or logistics environment with an understanding of stock control, order distribution, goods handling, and general warehouse operations
- Are comfortable using IT systems to support day-to-day operations, including maintaining records, monitoring stock levels, and producing accurate and timely reports to support operational performance and decision-making
- Have a strong work ethic with a "can-do" attitude, demonstrating reliability, initiative, and a commitment to completing tasks accurately and efficiently the first time
