We are looking to recruit a qualified Train Driver at Helensburgh. The right candidate will be someone who strives to deliver excellent customer service, can communicate effectively over a variety of formats, holds a positive attitude to safety and has a proven record of demonstrating flexibility at work.
Responsibilities
- Operate locomotives, both light engines and freight trains with safety at the forefront of all actions, utilising risk triggered commentary as a rule.
- Comply with all rules and instructions, undergoing proficiency assessments to maintain competence.
- Complete route and traction training, maintaining competence as required.
- Locate and where possible rectify faults by following the correct reporting procedures.
- Represent the company to our customers, maintaining a professional outlook in both behaviour and appearance.
- Read and fully understand all notices and amendments affecting the locomotive, train or route the Train Manager is working.
- Communicate issues pro-actively and effectively with GB Railfreight controllers, line managers, signallers and customer representatives.
- Ensure safety of oneself and all others working in and around the Railway by remaining focused, vigilant and taking the correct measures to prepare for duty.
Skills and Experience
Essential
- European Train Driving License holder.
- Clean safety record.
- Freight Train Driver Competence.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of rail industry rules and regulations.
- A full, manual UK drivers licence.
- Must live within 45 minutes commute of the depot.
Desirable
- Comfortable using iPAD and digital technologies.
- Mentor experience.
- Freight Train experience, especially class 66 locomotive competence.
- Varied route knowledge.
- Rail Operator competence.
