About The Role
Recruitment for a Rail Operator (Shunter) at our Peterborough depot. GB Railfreight is looking for motivated, safety‑conscious operators.
What you'll do
- Safely marshal, couple and uncouple wagons and locomotives within depots and yards.
- Carry out essential ground operations and safety checks.
- Work closely with Drivers and Yard Managers to keep freight services running efficiently and on time.
For new employees, the first five weeks will be spent in training. You’ll receive a training salary of £24,533 during this period. Once qualified, the basic annual salary is £39,873.

- A strong commitment to safety and operational excellence.

- Previous rail experience is an advantage – full training will be provided.
- Full UK manual drivers’ licence.
- Live within 45 minutes of the job location.
