Overview
GB Railfreight currently seek Rail Operators based in London Gateway. Working a shift-based roster on a nominal 37 hours per week, a Rail Operator will receive a basic salary of £38,263 per annum when competent plus great staff benefits. We are looking for a safety focused and dynamic individual to join our London based team and support GBRf in our commitment to deliver a safe, reliable and best in class service to our customers.

Responsibilities
The successful candidates will perform train preparation on, marshal and dispatch trains in a safe, punctual and efficient manner in accordance with GBRf and Railway rules and regulations. Liaising with GBRf Train Managers (Drivers), signallers and contractor representatives you will ensure customer requirements are met, and trains are prepared efficiently and on time.
To fulfil your duties a flexible approach to work is required. Our Rail Operators are required to book on at unsociable and often sporadic times, working year-round in all weather conditions.

You will undergo an extra weeks training at our site in Felixstowe to ensure you are best set up to succeed in this role.
Qualifications
- Previous operational/Ground staff/shunting experience within the Freight industry would be desirable.
- Experience in a safety critical role would be desirable.
- Experience gained in a Customer facing environment would be advantageous.
- Able to multi-task and make quick decisions for short notice changes to train plans.
- Ability to work independently and on your own initiative.
- Excellent and clear communication skills to relay important safety messages to your colleagues.
- Safety conscious and ability to remain calm in an event of an emergency situation.
- A clean full manual UK driving licence is essential.
