About The Role
At GB Railfreight, we’re proud to be one of the UK’s most successful, people-focused rail freight operators — and we’re looking for motivated, safety-conscious Rail Operators (Shunters) to join our exceptional team.
- What you’ll do
- Safely marshal, couple and uncouple wagons and locomotives within depots and yards.
- Carry out essential ground operations and safety checks.
- Work closely with Drivers and Yard Managers to keep freight services running efficiently and on time.
For those new to the role, the first 5 weeks of employment will be spent undertaking best in class training at our state of the art training school in Peterborough.
On successful completion of this you will be released to your home depot where you will undertake practical mentored hours.
During this time, you will be on a training salary of £23,567, however once qualified, a Rail Operator will receive a Basic Salary of £41,388 per annum.
