Role Overview
To assist the department with the management of train‑crew resources in order to deliver a safe and reliable train service while managing traincrew costs on a weekly basis and ensuring that the most efficient plans are adhered to on a week‑to‑week basis.
- Main Responsibilities
- Produce cost‑effective rosters and diagrams that maximise the use of resources to meet customer demands while also adhering to safety standards, legislation, policies and procedures.
- Ensure any diagrams produced with lodge turns have been highlighted to the relevant parties.
- Liaise and build strong working relationships with Control to support short‑term planning requirements and diagrams.
- Liaise effectively with the rest of the Planning Team to help facilitate diagrams in other locations.
- Develop and adopt suitable measures to continuously improve performance and reduce costs.
- Roster train crew to relevant turns on a weekly basis.
- Record all accommodation instances and lodging allowances for the Finance Department.
- Assist with managing taxi costs on a week‑to‑week basis with the aim of delivering cost improvements on a monthly basis.
- Populate train planning grids as required.
Skills and Experience
- Understanding of the railway industry.
- Previous railway planning experience is essential.
- Confident and proactive.
- Good attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Remains calm under pressure and is capable of working to tight deadlines.
