Operating from a 30,000 sq ft facility in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, we specialise in high-quality bespoke furniture and components for clients across multiple sectors including High-End Office, Fit-out, Luxury Automotive, Aerospace and Retail. We are a technical, quality-led manufacturer – the work is varied, the standards are high, and we take real pride in what we make. We have ambitious growth plans, and we are looking for people who want to grow with us.

THE CNC Wood Machinist Supervisor Role

We are looking for an experienced CNC machinist who is ready to take the next step. This is a hands-on leadership role – you will still be operating machinery, but you will also be responsible for running the department: coordinating the team, owning the schedule, and making sure the area runs efficiently, consistently, and to the standard GB Projects is known for. We need someone who takes genuine ownership of the CNC department – from the morning team briefing to the quality of the output, efficiency of the machines and the cleanliness of the department.

WHAT YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

  • Leading the team
    • Run a daily morning briefing – review the schedule, flag any issues, work alongside senior managers to adjust priorities where needed
    • Act as the single point of contact for the CNC team – filtering issues before they reach management
    • Manage time, attendance and day-to-day team organisation
    • Support the development of apprentices and junior operators
  • Running the department
    • Operate CNC machinery as a hands-on team member – this is a working leader role
    • Identify and act on efficiency opportunities: dual-field running, workload balancing, machine utilisation
    • Maintain department organisation and cleanliness to a standard you and the business are proud of
  • Quality and systems
    • Uphold ISO 9001:2015 standards and the quality procedures set by the business
    • Work within Emax (our ERP system) and ensure your team does the same
    • Liaise closely with the Production Manager and CAM Programmer to keep production on track

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

  • Essential
    • Minimum 5 years' experience operating CNC machinery
    • Proven ability to lead or coordinate a team in a production environment
    • Confident reading and working from technical drawings
    • Thorough knowledge of CNC processes and tooling
    • Methodical, organised and takes pride in a tidy, well-run workspace
  • Desirable
    • 5-axis machining experience
    • Knowledge of timber and sheet materials
    • Experience with CAM programming
    • Familiarity with Emax or a similar ERP or scheduling system

THE KIND OF PERSON WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Self-motivated and able to act on your own initiative
  • Takes ownership – if something isn't right, you fix it
  • A strong communicator who earns the respect of their team
  • On board with the growth journey – willing to go the extra mile to help the business get better
  • Has the "We Make It Happen" attitude

WHAT WE OFFER

  • Stable, Long-term role for the right candidate
  • Modern workshop environment
  • Holidays that increase with length of service
  • Secure onsite parking
  • Canteen with free hot drinks
  • A growing business where your contribution is visible and valued
