Role summary:

The Money Reporter will be an ambitious individual, eager to join the team in our fast-paced London newsroom. This is a unique opportunity to develop your career and skills at one of Britain’s most exciting and talked-about media brands. The Money Reporter will be keen to become a specialist in their field and feel comfortable in covering the latest economic and business developments, giving insight on personal finance, and be willing to adapt according to the needs of the news agenda of the day. Most importantly, they will be a team player. Applicants must be flexible and willing to work across a seven-day rota on a 7am-3pm or 3pm-11pm shift pattern. A strong knowledge of media law is required.

Key responsibilities and main tasks:

  • Reporting and Writing:
    • Conduct research, interviews, and investigations to gather information for money stories and features.
    • Write clear, concise, and engaging articles on a variety of topics, adhering to journalistic standards, deadlines and the GB News Editorial Charter.
    • Cover breaking news events, report on the latest economic developments, and write “news you can use” personal finance stories.
  • Editing and Proofreading:
    • Assist the Money Editor and wider senior money team in reviewing and editing articles for accuracy, clarity, and style.
    • Proofread content to identify errors in grammar, punctuation, and spelling before publication.
    • Learn how to craft compelling headlines, captions, and summaries to enhance reader engagement.
  • Digital Journalism:
    • Contribute to the production of digital content, including video, for the company\’s website, mobile app, and social media platforms.
    • Be competent in content management systems (CMS), search engine optimisation (SEO), social media, and analytics to maximise online reach and engagement.
    • Utilising Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to help boost the depth and breadth of GB News’s journalism.
    • Monitor audience feedback and trends to identify opportunities for optimising digital content and user experience.
  • Professional Development:
    • Receive mentorship and guidance from experienced journalists and editors to support career development.
    • Take on additional responsibilities and projects as assigned to broaden skill set and professional experience.
  • Be an ambassador for GB News
