In this exciting handsâon role, you will be driving the financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and management reporting process within GB News. Building on strong relationships across all levels of the business and through providing high quality financial analysis and reporting, you will influence decisionâmaking in a constructive and collaborative way. You will strengthen automation capabilities throughout the finance domain in order to maximise process efficiencies and improve service levels.
Responsibilities
- Work with the BI team to ensure timely availability and accuracy of nonâfinancial KPIs and ensure consistency of data across all reports.
- Own the FP&A calendar; manage and continuously improve budgeting and forecasting cycles and maintain appropriate financial models to support planning, taking full advantage of automation opportunities.
- Oversee and improve the accuracy of shortâterm cash flow planning.
- Liaise with the accounts team to ensure the correct classification and reporting of revenue and expenditures.
- Ensure that the chart of accounts is fit for purpose and reflects the evolving needs of the business.
- Lead monthly management reporting, clearly explaining variances and articulating underlying trends, risks and opportunities by focusing on the narrative behind the numbers.
- Strengthen budgetary control of key spend categories by partnering with budget owners and devising appropriate tools to track and manage spend, highlighting potential savings opportunities.
- Partner with the commercial team to accurately capture a wide variety of revenue streams, create transparency in terms of sales performance and identify opportunities to improve topâline growth.
- Support board reporting and related analysis.
- Adâhoc analysis as required.
Requirements
- 6â8 years of experience in financial planning and analysis or related field.
- Ideally experience in a broadcasting, media or content production environment.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Economics, or Business Studies.
- Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, ACA, CIMA).
- Strong modelling skills, expert level Excel / PowerPoint, good knowledge of Power BI.
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Sense of urgency, excellent time management and organisational skills.
- Inquisitive mindset and the ability to derive actionable insights from complex and often incomplete data.
- Highly independent, able to work with minimum supervision and cope with ambiguity.
- Comfortable with challenging the 'status quo' and driving change in a dynamic environment.
- Team player, organisational sensitivity and the ability to build productive relationships across the business.
- Capable of managing lowâcomplexity projects from start to finish.
