About the Role:
The Late Show Live is a nightly flagship programme broadcast live from Washington DC, offering GB News viewers in the UK and around the world a unique perspective on the day\’s biggest stories. With a focus on UK, US, and international news, the programme delivers original analysis, live interviews, and agenda-setting debates.
We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Editor to lead the editorial vision and output of The Late Show Live. The Editor will be responsible for driving the show’s journalistic excellence, editorial integrity, and on-air impact.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead editorial strategy and vision for The Late Show Live, ensuring high-quality journalism and distinctive storytelling.
- Oversee daily editorial planning, content development, and live broadcast production in coordination with the London newsroom.
- Collaborate closely with the presenter and production team to shape show formats, guest selection, and live segments.
- Maintain sharp editorial judgement on UK and international stories, ensuring balanced and robust coverage that aligns with GB News values.
- Manage and mentor a small Washington-based team of producers, reporters, and technical staff.
- Ensure compliance with Ofcom broadcasting standards and legal requirements across all output.
- React swiftly to breaking news and adapt show content accordingly.
- Represent GB News editorially and professionally in Washington DC and on international assignments, where required.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in a senior editorial or production role within a fast-paced broadcast news environment.
- Strong knowledge of UK current affairs, politics, and global news, particularly US-UK relations.
- Outstanding editorial judgement and decision-making under pressure.
- Experience producing or editing live television with a flair for engaging, intelligent storytelling.
- Leadership skills to inspire and manage a high-performing team across time zones.
- Excellent communication, organisation, and stakeholder management abilities.
- A commitment to journalistic integrity, balance, and audience-focused storytelling.
- Experience working in or with US-based news organisations.
- Familiarity with UK broadcast regulations and Ofcom compliance.
- Background in political journalism or international affairs.
