About the role
As a Quant Researcher you will be responsible for helping to improve algorithmic trading strategies and support existing strategies with others in the Digital Trading team using Python.This will involve conducting in-depth analyses of market data, building and refining models, and collaborating closely with traders and other team members to optimize our trading strategies. You will be working with large and complex datasets to identify trading opportunities and patterns in the energy market.
What you’ll do
As a Quant Researcher you will be responsible for conducting research and analysis of large datasets to identify trading opportunities and trends in the energy markets. Building new trading strategies under the guidance of the Digital Trading team to support the automated trading infrastructure. You will also;
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of trading strategies and make adjustments as needed
- Understand and apply knowledge of market structures in which we engage
- Advise on improvements and find workarounds around IT estate and processes
What you’ll bring to the role
Whilst having a basic understanding of trading and risk management is essential for the role (ideally commodities but could be any other trading market), you will need to be comfortable working in a dynamic environment of a rapidly growing business. You will have
- A strong understanding of financial markets, especially energy markets
- Experience with data analysis and modelling working with large datasets
- Strong team player with ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Effective multi-tasker with great written and verbal communication skills
- Strong Python skillsand background in statistics and probability theory
- Exposure to C# or any other programming is a plus
- Degree qualified in STEM or have equivalent experience
