As a Quant Researcher, you will be responsible for improving algorithmic trading strategies and supporting existing strategies within the Digital Trading team using Python. Your tasks will include conducting in-depth analyses of market data, building and refining models, and collaborating with traders and team members to optimize trading strategies. You will work with large and complex datasets to identify trading opportunities and patterns in the energy market.
What you’ll do
Conduct research and analysis of large datasets to identify trading opportunities and trends in energy markets. Develop new trading strategies under the guidance of the Digital Trading team to support automated trading infrastructure. Your responsibilities will also include:
- Monitoring and evaluating the performance of trading strategies and making adjustments as needed.
- Understanding and applying knowledge of market structures.
- Advising on improvements and finding workarounds around IT estate and processes.
What you’ll bring to the role
A basic understanding of trading and risk management (preferably in commodities or other trading markets) is essential. You should be comfortable working in a dynamic, rapidly growing business environment. The ideal candidate will have:
- A strong understanding of financial markets, especially energy markets.
- Experience with data analysis and modeling using large datasets.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment as a team player.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong Python skills, with a background in statistics and probability theory.
- Exposure to C# or other programming languages is a plus.
- A degree in STEM or equivalent experience.
