We are seeking a seasoned Employability Tutor with good DIY skills. As an Employability Tutor, you will work with young people and share basic DIY skills to encourage them to engage in learning practical skills that they may take forward into further training.
You don’t have to be an expert in any of the following, but should be naturally good with your hands, practically minded, and enjoy DIY at home. Useful skills include:
- Woodworking
- Brickwork
- Tiling
- Painting and decorating
As part of the role, you will be taught a full range of DIY skills to improve your skill set and have the opportunity to gain formal training qualifications if you don’t possess them already. You will be working for a well-established training provider with an impressive track record in engaging young people who then go on to take apprenticeships in construction skills. Classes are small, ensuring each learner receives individual attention.
Essential for the role:
- A track record in employability or youth work, either as a role or on a voluntary basis.
- Good DIY skills - painting, decorating, woodworking, brickwork, tiling.
- Enjoy working with young people and committed to building relationships to encourage and promote learning.
- Must live within easy travelling distance of the Lutterworth area.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
