As a Technical Program Manager, we are seeking you to lead the mainframe modernisation initiatives for a large scale retail organisation, with a strong focus on supply chain, distribution, and warehouse operations. You will work closely with warehouse, platform, and business teams to plan, coordinate, and deliver seamless transformation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of large-scale mainframe modernisation programs supporting retail logistics and supply chain operations.
  • Define program roadmap, timelines, milestones, and delivery strategy.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, supply chain teams, and IT teams.
  • Ensure delivery aligns with key retail trading cycles, peak seasons, and business-critical events.
  • Partner with architects and engineering teams to define modern, scalable target-state architectures.
  • Drive migration, re-platforming, or decommissioning of mainframe systems with minimal operational disruption.
  • Own the transition of legacy mainframe applications used for retail supply chain processes such as: Store replenishment, Inventory management, Distribution centre operations, and Order fulfilment and allocations.
  • Manage vendors, system integrators, and cross-functional teams.
  • Identify risks, dependencies, and mitigation plans proactively.
  • Track KPIs, program health, and provide executive-level reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards, governance, and best practices.
  • Lead change management and user adoption initiatives.
  • Drive continuous improvement of program delivery processes, tooling, and metrics.
  • Ensure adherence to governance, security, and compliance standards.

Profile

Essential skills/knowledge/experience

  • Proven experience leading mainframe modernisation or legacy transformation programs.
  • Strong experience working in client-facing environments with senior business and IT stakeholders.
  • Track record of managing large, multi-vendor, geographically distributed delivery teams.
  • Strong understanding of retail supply chain and logistics operations.
  • Hands-on or working knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) in a retail context.
  • Understanding of omnichannel fulfilment models (store, DC, click & collect, ship-from-store).
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure/AWS) is a plus.
  • Experience working in Agile environments.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage engineering teams and senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams and competing priorities with minimal supervision.
  • Expertise in managing large-scale transformation programs.
  • Program governance and stakeholder management, Budget planning, cost tracking, and resource management, Risk management and escalation handling.
