Role Summary
The Test Architect is responsible for defining and governing the overall test strategy, test architecture, and quality standards across projects and programmes. This role ensures scalable, efficient, and future‑ready testing solutions aligned with business, technology, and compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and own the end‑to‑end test architecture, including tools, frameworks, environments, and data strategy.
- Establish enterprise‑wide test strategy, standards, best practices, and governance models.
- Design and implement test automation frameworks (UI, API, mobile, performance, security).
- Evaluate and select testing tools and technologies; lead PoCs and modernisation initiatives.
- Integrate testing seamlessly into CI/CD pipelines and DevOps processes.
- Define non‑functional testing approaches (performance, security, resilience, accessibility).
- Mentor QA leads and engineers; provide technical leadership and coaching.
- Collaborate with architects, developers, DevOps, and business stakeholders to ensure quality by design.
- Review test metrics, dashboards, and quality KPIs; drive continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, security, and audit requirements (where applicable).
Required Skills & Experience
- 10+ years of experience in software testing / quality engineering, with 3–5 years in an architect or lead role.
- Strong expertise in test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, REST Assured).
- Experience with API, microservices, and cloud‑native application testing.
- Solid understanding of SDLC, Agile, Scrum, DevOps, and CI/CD.
- Hands‑on experience with performance tools (e.g., JMeter, Gatling) and security testing concepts.
- Proficiency in one or more programming/scripting languages (Java, Python, JavaScript, etc.).
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Strong stakeholder management, communication, and documentation skills.
Good to Have
- Experience with AI‑driven testing tools and test analytics.
- Domain exposure (Banking, Insurance, Utilities, Healthcare, Telecom, etc.).
