This role sits within an enterprise architectural governance team, providing independent assurance and oversight across SAP cloud application implementations within a complex utilities environment. You will work closely with internal stakeholders and third-party system integrators to review designs, assure compliance to standards, and govern architectural decisions across SAP cloud platforms and integrations. The role focuses on governance, assurance, and architectural consistency, rather than hands-on build.
Your responsibilities:
- Act as SAP Platform Architect within the architectural governance and assurance function.
- Provide design assurance and architectural oversight for SAP cloud applications including SAP Ariba, SAP Concur, SAP Fieldglass and SAP SuccessFactors.
- Review and approve solution architectures, integration designs and non-functional requirements covering security, scalability, resilience and performance.
- Govern integration patterns and interfaces between SAP platforms, enterprise systems and third-party vendors.
- Work closely with a third-party system integrator to ensure adherence to agreed architecture principles and standards.
- Chair and actively participate in Architecture Review Boards (ARBs) and governance forums.
- Conduct formal architecture reviews, documenting findings, risks, recommendations and decisions.
- Ensure alignment to enterprise cloud, data, security and integration standards.
- Identify architectural risks early and provide clear, actionable assurance feedback to delivery teams.
- Maintain architecture artefacts, standards and decision records in line with governance processes.
Your Profile
Essential skills/knowledge/experience:
- Strong experience as an SAP Platform Architect or Solution Architect in large enterprise environments.
- Proven knowledge of SAP cloud applications including SAP Ariba, SAP Concur, SAP Fieldglass and SAP SuccessFactors.
- Solid understanding of cloud-based SAP architectures and enterprise integration patterns.
- Experience working within architectural governance, assurance or design authority teams.
- Demonstrated experience reviewing and assuring third-party designs, rather than executing build.
- Strong experience interfacing with system integrators and external delivery partners.
- Ability to conduct and lead Architecture Review Boards (ARBs).
- Strong documentation, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience operating within regulated, large-scale enterprise environments.
Desirable skills/knowledge/experience:
- Experience in utilities or highly regulated industries.
- Familiarity with enterprise cloud standards (Azure / AWS).
- Knowledge of SAP BTP, integration middleware, identity and security patterns.
- Formal architecture certification (e.g., TOGAF).
