We're looking to recruit a Senior GCP VDC Network Engineer to be part of our Public Cloud Platform and help achieve our mission to provide compliant and efficient Google Cloud Infra, product and DevOps capabilities for the Group and drive innovation to enable customers to have rapid and seamless Google Cloud Adoption and build their business journeys more scalable, resilient and efficient. Your role will be part of a cross-disciplinary feature team in addition to being a highly experienced member of our wider Client's engineering team delivering change.
Your role as a GCP VDC Network specialist involves supporting teams with modern DevOps solutions, curating scalable GCP Cloud Products as IaaC and building VDC network layer, and modernising the cloud network services. You'll learn new skills, technologies and approaches to software development as well as benefiting from a culture that celebrates diversity and equal opportunity.
Your responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and manage GCP Virtual Data Center (VDC) network architecture for enterprise workloads.
- Configure and maintain VPCs, subnets, firewalls, routing, and peering for secure and scalable connectivity.
- Implement Hybrid Connectivity solutions (Cloud VPN, Interconnect) for on-prem and multi-cloud integration.
- Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for network resources using Terraform / Terraform Cloud.
- Automate network provisioning and configuration workflows using Python scripting.
- Enforce GCP Organization Policies for network security and compliance (IP restrictions, encryption, access control).
- Integrate network deployments into CI/CD pipelines for automated provisioning and updates.
- Implement policy-as-code guardrails for network governance using Sentinel or OPA.
- Optimize network performance and reliability through monitoring, logging, and proactive tuning.
- Collaborate with security teams to implement network security best practices (firewall rules, private access, service perimeter).
- Support migration of legacy network configurations into unified, reusable templates.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues across GCP VDC environments.
Essential skills/knowledge/experience:
- Strong hands-on experience in GCP Networking (VPC, subnets, firewall, routing, peering).
- Expertise in Hybrid Connectivity (Cloud VPN, Interconnect).
- Terraform / Terraform Cloud for IaC.
- Python scripting for automation.
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub, Harness) for network automation.
- Knowledge of GCP Organization Policy and policy-as-code frameworks (Sentinel/OPA).
- GCP Certified (preferably Professional Cloud Network Engineer).
Good to have:
- Experience with IDE platforms for Cloud Engineering (e.g., Backstage).
- Looking for Senior Engineering Skills as GCP Cloud SMEs who has contributed also as a Technical Consultant in guiding Design, Architecture and Strategy.
- Bringing in thought leadership in driving innovation and best practices.
- Good communicator, collaborator and Leader with experience on working with multiple organisational stakeholders.
