Core Responsibilities
- Installation & Maintenance: Use SMP/E to install, patch (PTFs), and upgrade DB2 subsystems.
- System Performance: Monitor and tune DB2 system parameters (ZPARMS), buffer pools, and EDM pools.
- Disaster Recovery: Design and implement backup and recovery strategies for the DB2 catalog and directory.
- Tooling Management: Install and maintain third-party products (e.g., Platinum, SYSVIEW for DB2) to assist in database management and monitoring.
- Security: Implement and manage DB2 security using RACF, ACF2, or Top Secret.
Key skills/knowledge/experience
The ideal candidate ensures high availability and optimal performance of the DB2 subsystem. This role requires deep technical knowledge of SMP/E, z/OS internals, and third-party management tools like Broadcom (formerly CA) Platinum and Broadcom SYSVIEW.
Additional qualifications: Experience in IMS installation and Production db2/ims DBA support. Resource will be working Client facing and able to handle all the communication and lead team with supportive skills.
