At Gaussion we want to reduce charging times for electric vehicles (EVs) so that they are comparable with refuelling a traditional combustion vehicle.
We believe that our patent-protected technology can achieve this, meaning lower resistance, faster EV charging and longer warranties.

Role
As a Systems Engineer, you will be the person who makes everything work together.
You will sit at the meeting point of hardware, firmware and software, taking on the wide variety of integration problems that come with building new technology, from bringing up a test rig to helping a customer integrate our systems with theirs.
It is a hands-on, varied role for someone who enjoys solving many different problems and is comfortable working across disciplines.
Main responsibilities will include
- Integrate systems – bring hardware, firmware and software together into working end-to-end setups, and diagnose issues.
- Write scripts and tooling – automate testing, data capture and setup tasks in Python (or similar), and build small tools that speed up the wider team.
- Support customer integration – work directly with customers to integrate Gaussion’s technology into their systems, troubleshooting issues and resolving them quickly.
- Solve the critical 5% – own the steady stream of varied, non-trivial problems that come with new technology, root-causing across disciplines and seeing each fix through to completion.
- Build and maintain test setups – assemble, wire and configure rigs, benches and fixtures, and keep them running reliably.
- Glue software – produce glue code and applications to connect systems, log data and expose interfaces where needed.
- Debug in the lab – use bench instruments and logs to isolate faults.
- Document and share – write up setups, procedures and fixes so others can repeat them, and so integration knowledge does not sit with just one person.
You will report directly to the Head of the Electronics, whilst also working closely with the wider team.
Requirements
- We are looking for an experienced engineer who can demonstrate the following:
- A degree in Engineering, Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent hands-on experience), plus 3–10 years in a systems, integration, test or similarly broad engineering role.
- A confident generalist who is comfortable moving between hardware, firmware and software.
- Solid scripting skills, ideally in Python, for automation, test and data handling.
- Strong hands-on debugging skills and the ability to break down complex problems.
- Experience working directly with customers and explaining technical issues clearly.
- Excellent communication skills, a proactive attitude, and a genuine passion for engineering.
Preferred experience
- Experience with EV charging, battery systems, or power electronics.
- Familiarity with lab instruments (oscilloscopes, power supplies, DAQ) and a working knowledge of basic electronics.
- Exposure to embedded systems, microcontrollers, or communication protocols (CAN, Modbus, serial and similar).
- Software development experience beyond scripting, such as C/C++, C# or building small applications and interfaces.
- Hands-on skills with hardware development and prototyping (e. g. soldering).
- MCAD or ECAD experience.
- Experience working in a fast-paced startup or hardware development environment.
- A passion for clean technology and the electrification of transport.
