Head of Social Impact

Circa £106,000 salary, £12,000 flex allowance, up to 40% discretionary bonus, plus benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Social Impact team to deliver London Gatwick's economic partnerships, community investment programmes, employment skills and business strategy, ensuring all activities align with legal requirements and integrate across the business.
  • Integrate noise management and noise engagement with operational teams and partners, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage the Social Impact team day‑to‑day, engaging wider business stakeholders at all levels and overseeing budget planning and management.
  • Develop and deliver an integrated Social Impact plan covering economic partnerships, community investment, education, employment and skills, and noise management, creating a talent pipeline while meeting statutory obligations.
  • Engage proactively with stakeholders, working closely with Public Affairs and corporate affairs to prioritise responsibilities, contribute to community consultation, and maintain relationships with local community representatives through noise engagement platforms.
  • Communicate London Gatwick's vision and priorities externally through forums, public speaking, and collaboration with the communications team to identify storytelling opportunities.
  • Drive accurate measurement and reporting of impact, establishing key performance indicators for Decade of Change goals 1, 4 and 5.

Qualifications

  • Significant experience in social impact in complex organisations.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and developing teams, including in challenging environments and during change.
  • Proven partnership working, planning and delivery of public consultation projects.
  • Strong engagement and communication skills with diverse external stakeholders at all levels, with influencing ability and resilience.
  • Experience representing the business at external meetings and events.
  • Presentation delivery tailored to varied audiences.
  • Project and delivery management experience, ensuring strong collaboration across the team.
  • Knowledge of local demographics in Sussex, Surrey, Kent and the challenges related to Gatwick’s role in the region is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of social impact and sustainability reporting best practice.
