To support London Gatwick's public affairs strategy and engagement. Working alongside the Public Affairs Lead and Public Affairs Manager to influence Government, civil servants, MPs, local authorities, Councillors, and third-party organisations to support Gatwick's corporate objectives. This role takes an office first hybrid approach here at London Gatwick, with three days a week in the office, two days remote, managed around the needs of the business.
What is the role? You will be expected to deliver political, policy and opinion former monitoring and tracking, manage contact and correspondence databases and other core tools, and support stakeholder engagement and events through input into briefing materials, managing event logistics and budget administration.
What will you do?
- Political & stakeholder relationship support: Map and profile Gatwick's key parliamentary and corporate stakeholders, maintain relationship management and correspondence. Support on drafting of local and national stakeholder correspondence and briefing notes including regular MP newsletter.
- Political and policy monitoring: ensure comprehensive tracking and monitoring of key political opinion formers, parliamentary output and policy developments. Support PA Lead and PA Manager on input into Government consultations by providing insights and information on policy issues.
- Communication and events: Support wider corporate affairs function by providing information to support communication campaigns and announcements. Support organisation of key events e.g. stakeholder airport visits, party conference etc.
- Issues Management: provide information and assistance during disruption and incidents as required by public affairs team and relevant issues/crisis lead.
Do you have what we're looking for?
- Experience within an in-house public affairs environment, consultancy or political context
- Educated to degree level desirable
- Confidence in engaging with governmental, Parliamentary and influential third party audiences
- An ability to identify issues that could impact business reputation
- Strong verbal communication skills, to effectively brief stakeholders
- Excellent writing skills, including drafting reports and letters to senior stakeholders
- Strong research skills, taking technical information and translating it into a compelling narrative for external stakeholders
- Awareness of key developments in transport, infrastructure & environment policy desirable
- Ability to successfully manage agencies and third parties on projects
