What is the role?

Responsible for developing an annual risk‑based audit strategy and managing delivery of the agreed audit programme. The role will also support the implementation of the risk management framework. This role takes an office‑first hybrid approach here at London Gatwick, with three days a week in the office and two days remote, managed around the needs of the business.

What will you do?

  • Designing and delivering the annual programme of assurance reviews
  • Working autonomously to lead and deliver assurance reviews, with a focus on root cause analysis and value‑add recommendations
  • Oversight of Gatwick audit team in the delivery of audits for Gatwick Airport in line with the agreed annual plan
  • Communication – written and verbal – of key findings and recommendations for improvement at the conclusion of each assurance review to the relevant business stakeholders
  • Preparing reports outlining the delivery of the assurance programme, key messages/findings and tracking of open issues to the Audit, Risk and Finance Committee
  • Oversight and instruction of outsourced specialist internal audit work to ensure timely delivery and maintenance of quality standards
  • Working with the Head of Audit & Risk to continuously improve and evolve internal audit methodology, processes and procedures, providing support on other risk management activities, including enterprise risk management
  • Delivery of audit assignments where required at other UK Airports, which may require travel (EDI and BFS)

Do you have what we're looking for?

  • Relevant qualification and have either trained with an accountancy practice or in an industry environment
  • Strong technical background in either internal or external audit
  • Strong awareness of best practice approaches to risk management and internal controls, ideally in a similar fast‑paced and complex business environment
  • Experience driving risk management systems
  • Experience undertaking complex internal audits with multiple stakeholders
  • Experience creating an audit universe and delivering a comprehensive audit plan aligned to risk‑based principles
  • Ability to complete root cause analysis and provide value‑add recommendations
  • Management of third parties and outsourced specialist internal audit work to ensure timely delivery and maintenance of quality standards
  • Experience reporting, identifying process improvement, keen interest in continuous improvement, digital and data‑driven initiatives
  • Experience with ISO 31000 or other enterprise risk management frameworks
  • Understanding best practice risk and audit techniques and knowledge of new developments
  • Proven track record of undertaking large, long‑term projects, developing alternative methods to complete them and implementing solutions
