The Capacity Planning Analyst plays a critical role in shaping the airport's long‑term capacity planning by delivering high‑quality analytical insight and modelling. This role drives continuous improvement across airfield and terminal operations, ensuring that infrastructure, resources, and processes are optimised to meet current and future demand. Using advanced mathematical, statistical and simulation‑based modelling techniques, the Capacity Planning Analyst provides evidence‑based recommendations that support key strategic decisions. The role works collaboratively with operational and commercial teams to deepen the maturity of capacity tools, enhance data accuracy and identify opportunities for improved productivity, resilience and passenger experience. Ultimately, this role ensures that the airport has a clear, analytically robust understanding of its growth potential, infrastructure constraints and operational risks, enabling leaders to plan confidently for the future.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for designing and building analytical airfield & terminal models that influence the airport's strategic decision making.
- Drive continuous productivity improvement across infrastructure.
- Leverage use of tools to automate reporting.
- Help to support optimisation of resource and infrastructure and strategic decision making through mathematical, simulation and optimisation modelling.
- Consolidate data to enable critical analysis.
- Provide insight on future growth potential and impact.
- Use statistical analysis to drive performance.
Qualifications
- Background in programming, e.g. VBA / Python.
- A high aptitude for problem solving.
- Experience in building mathematical models of real-world scenarios.
- Strong IT skills particularly using Excel and Tableau, with the ability to find new ways to present and visualise data.
- Proven track record in extracting key insights from data and making meaningful recommendations.
- Strong communication skills to effectively communicate technical results to key stakeholders.
- Methodical mindset with strong awareness of the operational and commercial impacts of decision making.
- Experience in OR and optimisation tools is desirable.
- Airport modelling experience such as CAST/ ArcPORT/ AirTOp is essential.
