The predicted salary is between 45000 - 67000 £ per year.
The core purpose of this role is to deliver a safe, efficient and resilient Baggage System – a system that delivers one of three major flows within the Airport (the others being aircraft and pax). This is achieved by taking full accountability for the Baggage Systems to deliver high levels of system safety, reliability and availability of what is one of Gatwick's operationally critical infrastructure systems.
The role requires strong leadership of the maintenance team and the effective management of 3rd parties and stakeholders.
What you'll be doing:
- Lead and develop Baggage Engineering team of highly skilled Technicians to deliver maintenance plan.
- Ensure optimal performance of Baggage asset base including performance improvements to improve system availability achieving against OBP / CSS metrics.
- Drive EH&S culture across all teams to reduce incidents & promote safe working environment.
- Produces effective communication and reports to all stakeholders, such as Gal teams, Airlines & handling agents to enable operation.
- Management of cost and Contract management to ensure operational budget.
Do you have what we're looking for?
- Educated to degree level in an engineering discipline preferred; educated to HND level in engineering discipline with significant experience accepted.
- Proven proactive leadership to promote health and safety culture, ensuring processes and procedures protect employees and contractors.
- Lead, manage and develop the baggage team to deliver against Gatwick strategic priorities.
- Ensure performance of systems meets and exceeds required OBP, CSS measures.
- Lead failure investigations to determine root causes associated with baggage system and operational impacts to business.
