The work of the Lead Marine Coordinator is to coordinate the movements of vessels and personnel within the offshore site, ensuring the safety of personnel during operations and compliance with best marine/offshore safety and operational practices in respect of CTV/SOV operations and site management. The role will include optimising CTV usage for efficient transfer of personnel and equipment, managing communication for live operations of personnel and all site vessels via VHF, UHF, AIS, E-mail, TETRA and telephone, and coordinating the position of vessels and other relevant equipment within the operational site and berthing areas to minimise downtime, avoid conflicts and maximise safety. The Lead Marine Coordinator will monitor and record all project vessel movements through offshore management systems (e.g. SITE Systematic), monitor real-time weather conditions and advise vessel Masters of any changes that may impact operations. Responsibilities also include handling inductions, issuing access cards, identifying and reporting logistics conflicts, maintaining records of vessel activities, ensuring certifications and medicals are valid, managing emergency situations in line with procedures, maintaining NOK records, and attending daily planning meetings.

Key Responsibilities

  • The Contractor shall be responsible for the shift planning of their personnel in compliance with local work and rest regulations.
  • Allow sufficient handover time between shifts and propose an appropriate handover and break regime.
  • Coordinate all project-related vessel traffic to and from the offshore construction site and nearby ports (CTVs, SOVs, installation and survey vessels) to minimise delays and ensure safe operations.
  • Coordinate movement of all personnel and equipment offshore, including crew changes.
  • Ensure all offshore personnel hold valid medicals and certifications.
  • Handle emergencies in line with the Emergency Response Plan.
  • Initiate internal communication processes in case of incidents based on severity.
  • Maintain and update emergency contact details for offshore personnel.
  • Maintain daily logs of vessel locations and personnel onboard.
  • Provide daily reports to the project team as required.
  • Obtain work schedules from contractors and coordinate accordingly.
  • Notify relevant authorities (e.g. MCA) of navigational or safety issues.
  • Maintain continuous communication with all working vessels.

Key Qualifications

  • Proven experience as an Offshore Marine Coordinator during construction.
  • Strong understanding of CDM Regulations.
  • Strong coordination, leadership and organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to manage competing operational demands.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
  • Willingness to work offshore (vessel/helicopter transfers).

Essential Certifications

  • MCA Certificate of Competency (Deck Officer).
  • GMDSS Certification.
  • GWO Basic Safety Training.
  • OEUK Medical (or equivalent, including Chester Step Test).

Nice to Have

  • CAA Radio Certification.
  • NEBOSH or IOSH certification.
  • HUET with CA-EBS.
  • Offshore Emergency Response Training (Operational Level).
