Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced
CAM Programmer to join our growing manufacturing team in Southwark.
This is a high-impact technical role focused on developing, optimising, and industrialising machining processes for advanced aerospace, defence, energy, and robotics components.
You will be responsible for creating efficient CNC programs, validating manufacturing strategies, and supporting production teams to achieve exceptional quality, repeatability, and throughput.
Working alongside machinists, engineers, and software developers, you will play a critical role in building one of the most advanced and digitally connected manufacturing facilities in the UK.
The ideal candidate combines strong CAM expertise with a passion for precision engineering, continuous improvement, and data-driven manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, simulate, verify, and optimise CNC programs across a range of machine tools.
- Develop machining strategies for complex, high-precision components.
- Select tooling, work holding, cutting parameters, and machining methods to maximise efficiency and quality.
- Support first article prove-outs and process validation activities.
- Continuously improve cycle times, machine utilisation, and manufacturing performance.
- Design and refine fixturing and setup strategies to improve repeatability.
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities from design review through to production release.
- Provide Design for Manufacture (DFM) feedback to engineering teams and customers.
- Create and maintain machining documentation, setup sheets, and process standards.
- Work closely with operators, machinists, engineers, and Mason OS software teams to improve manufacturing workflows and data collection.
- Support the adoption of automation, probing technologies, and advanced machining techniques.
- Required Skills & Experience
- Strong CAM programming experience using Fusion 360, Hyper Mill, Mastercam, Siemens NX, or equivalent.
- Proven experience programming complex CNC milling and/or turning operations.
- Deep understanding of machining processes, tooling, work holding, feeds, speeds, and cutting strategies.
- Ability to manufacture precision components to tight tolerances (±0.01mm and below where required).
- Experience interpreting complex engineering drawings and GD&T requirements.
- Understanding of machining challenging materials such as aluminium, stainless steels, titanium, and Inconel.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-growth manufacturing environment.
Desirable Experience
- 5-axis simultaneous machining.
- Multi-axis mill-turn programming.
- Experience with probing, automation, pallet systems, or lights-out manufacturing.
- Knowledge of AS9100 and ISO9001 quality systems.
- Aerospace, defence, energy, or other high-specification manufacturing experience.
- Interest in robotics, automation, and digital manufacturing technologies.
