The Opportunity
As a Senior Mechanical / Structural Engineer, you will provide technical leadership across the full engineering lifecycle, from concept development through detailed design, analysis, testing, and production support. You'll work on sophisticated multi-material structures and assemblies, applying advanced engineering principles to ensure designs meet stringent performance, safety, and regulatory requirements. This is a hands‑on technical role that combines engineering excellence with mentoring responsibilities and project delivery leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and structural assessment of complex mechanical systems and assemblies
- Perform engineering analysis, including Finite Element Analysis (FEA), to support design decisions
- Break down complex technical challenges and deliver practical engineering solutions
- Support project planning, work package definition, and technical delivery activities
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary engineering teams and stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with industry, regulatory, and organisational standards
- Contribute to design reviews, governance activities, and technical assurance processes
- Mentor and support the development of junior engineers
- Identify opportunities for innovation, capability growth, and continuous improvement
- Promote safe working practices throughout project delivery
About You
We're looking for an experienced engineer who combines strong technical expertise with sound engineering judgement and a collaborative approach.
- Strong background in mechanical and structural engineering
- Experience designing and analysing complex engineering structures
- Proficiency in Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
- Experience with metallic and composite materials
- Strong understanding of engineering design and manufacturing principles
- Knowledge of relevant safety and regulatory frameworks
- CAD experience, ideally using Siemens NX and/or SolidWorks
- Experience working to recognised industry standards within highly regulated environments
- Ability to lead technical activities and influence project outcomes
Qualifications
Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related engineering discipline. Equivalent industry experience will also be considered.
