Mechanical Team Leader to play a pivotal role in delivering critical facilities management and maintenance services at a major site in Portsmouth.

The Opportunity
As Mechanical Team Leader, you'll be responsible for overseeing the delivery of planned and reactive maintenance activities while ensuring the highest standards of safety, compliance, efficiency, and customer service.
You'll work closely with internal stakeholders and operational teams to support ship docking activities, waterfront services, and mechanical and electrical maintenance operations.

Key Responsibilities
As a Mechanical Team Leader, you will
- Lead and coordinate planned, reactive, and remedial maintenance activities, ensuring all work is completed within agreed SLAs and KPI targets.
- Collaborate with departmental Team Leaders to support ship docking operations, waterfront services, and wider maintenance programmes.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineers and technicians during maintenance activities.
- Manage workflow priorities, ensuring resources are effectively deployed to meet operational demands.
- Monitor performance against KPIs, managing exceptions and providing supporting documentation where target dates cannot be achieved.
- Drive a "right first time" approach through trend analysis, proactive problem-solving, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work closely with procurement teams to ensure the timely availability of parts and materials.
- Maintain effective day-to-day operational control, escalating issues where appropriate.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce operational costs, and enhance service delivery.
- Support workforce development through mentoring, upskilling, and succession planning initiatives.
- Ensure full compliance with statutory regulations, company policies, and safe systems of work.
- Champion high levels of customer satisfaction, productivity, and operational excellence.
What We're Looking For
We're keen to hear from candidates who can demonstrate
- Experience working within a Facilities Management (FM) maintenance environment.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience within a mechanical maintenance setting.
- Knowledge of CAFM systems and maintenance management processes.
- Understanding of KPI reporting and performance management.
- Experience interpreting technical specifications and implementing safe systems of work.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to plan, prioritise, and delegate effectively.
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with excellent problem-solving abilities.
- The ability to motivate and develop teams while adapting to changing operational requirements.
- Familiarity with the FMSP contract framework would be advantageous.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Degree in Engineering or equivalent industry experience within a facilities management environment.
- Security clearance, or the ability to successfully obtain clearance.
- IOSH Managing Safely qualification, or willingness to achieve it.
- Commitment to ongoing professional and leadership development.
