Are you an experienced Project Manager with a background in construction, estates, or capital project delivery? We are seeking a Project Manager to join a busy Estates Management team responsible for delivering a varied portfolio of projects across a unique and operational defence environment.

This is an opportunity to manage projects that make a tangible impact, from refurbishment and maintenance programmes through to specialist technical repairs, site improvements, sustainability initiatives, and new-build developments. You will work within a complex estate where no two projects are the same, providing challenge, variety, and the chance to influence environments that support nationally significant activities.

The Role

As Project Manager, you will take ownership of a range of construction and estates projects throughout the full project lifecycle, from initial planning and procurement through to delivery, handover, and project close-out. You will collaborate with contractors, consultants, procurement teams, and key stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of multiple estates, construction, refurbishment, maintenance, and related projects
  • Develop project delivery strategies alongside internal stakeholders and procurement teams
  • Define project scope, budgets, programmes, and governance arrangements
  • Manage project performance, risks, costs, and reporting throughout delivery
  • Coordinate and oversee contractors, consultants, and third-party suppliers
  • Ensure compliance with planning requirements, Building Regulations, CDM Regulations, and relevant statutory standards
  • Manage project documentation, including bids, proposals, contracts, and technical submissions
  • Monitor contractor performance and project progress against agreed milestones
  • Support project handover and ensure effective facilities management arrangements are established following completion
  • Drive continuous improvement and identify opportunities to enhance sustainability and energy performance across projects

About You

You will be an organised and proactive Project Manager who is comfortable managing contractors and stakeholders while balancing multiple projects within a technically complex environment.

Essential Experience

  • Working knowledge of Planning Application and GPDO processes
  • Understanding of sustainability and energy considerations within project delivery
  • Working knowledge of Building Regulations
  • Knowledge of Construction (Design and Management) Regulations and experience acting in a client or equivalent project role
  • Operational knowledge of NEC contracts
  • Experience managing budgets, project risks, and delivery programmes
  • Ability to effectively manage external contractors and suppliers

Desirable Experience

  • Experience within defence, government, industrial, engineering, or highly regulated environments
  • Knowledge of JSP standards
  • Experience delivering projects across operational estates or mission critical environments

Qualifications

Industry-recognised project management qualification such as PRINCE2, APM, or PMP

What's On Offer?

  • Competitive salary of £50,400 - £56,000 depending on experience
  • Comprehensive benefits package
  • Flexible and hybrid working arrangements
  • Opportunity to deliver a diverse portfolio of impactful projects
  • Long-term career development within a highly respected organisation
