ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Teaches the assigned subject areas adopted by the Board of Trustees; in departmentalized or team teaching situations, teaches one or any combinations as assigned by the principal.
  • Instructs pupils in citizenship, basic communication skills, and other general elements of the course of study specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.
  • Provides planned learning experiences to motivate pupils and use instruction time effectively.
  • Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and small-group instruction to adapt curriculum to each pupil.
  • Translates lesson plans into learning experiences to best use instruction time.
  • Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior for a functional learning atmosphere.
  • Cooperates in establishing standards of expected student progress and skills with techniques for assessment.
  • Evaluates pupil’s academic and social growth, keeps records, prepares progress reports, and communicates with parents on individual progress.
  • Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with other staff to address health, attitude, and learning problems.
  • Creates and maintains a functional and attractive classroom environment.
  • Works to improve pupil positive self-image by fostering a welcoming learning atmosphere.
  • Maintains professional competence through participation in in-service education and approved professional growth activities.
  • Performs basic attendance accounting.
  • Supervises pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned workday.
  • Administers group standardized tests per district testing program.
  • Participates in curriculum and developmental programs within the school and at the district level.
  • Participates in district and faculty committees and sponsors student activities.
  • Plans and coordinates paraprofessional work as assigned.
  • Completes school and/or district-level reports, surveys, etc. upon request.
  • Participates in district-sponsored school activities and events (Back to School Night, Open House, Home School Club events, etc.).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
