Right now, we’re on the lookout for a practical and motivated Grounds & Facilities Assistant to help keep our 5-acre SEA LIFE Weymouth site looking its very best. In this hands-on role, you’ll support the Tech and Grounds team with the day to day upkeep of the attraction, helping to create a safe, clean and welcoming environment for our guests before they set off on their undersea adventure.
From leaf blowing and weeding in the mornings, to maintaining lawns, beds and borders, managing waste, supporting with deliveries and carrying out minor repairs, no two days will look the same. You may also help with washroom and facility checks, irrigation, water feature maintenance and general park presentation tasks. This is a fixed-term, seasonal role. You’ll work a fixed rota of Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday (20 hours per week), with opportunities to increase hours up to 40 per week during holiday cover periods. Weekend and bank holiday working is required.
Qualifications & Experience
- Aged 18 or over due to health and safety requirements
- Enthusiastic, energetic and happy working outdoors in all weathers
- Someone who enjoys practical, hands-on work and learning new skills
- Ability to plan and prioritise your own workload
- Strong communication skills and confidence interacting with guests
- Willingness to train and gain additional job specific skills
- Basic maintenance experience is beneficial but not essential
- COSHH and manual handling knowledge is helpful
- A driving licence is a big plus
