Senior Clinical Fellow - Obstetrics and Gynaecology

Within the Obstetrics and Gynaecology department at the QE Hospital, Gateshead an opportunity has arisen for two full time Senior Clinical Fellowposts (equivalent to Registrar) commencing as soon as possible. The post is for 12 months and offers excellent clinical experience in a full range ofObstetric and Gynaecology services within a supportive team.Although this post cannot be counted towards specialist training requirements, the post holder will have the same access to clinical & educationalsupervision, study leave and other learning opportunities as is available to approved training post holders in the department.

Main duties of the job

This is a temporary tier 2 doctor post within the Obstetrics and Gynaecology department at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead. The postis for twelve months to start as soon as possible. The post will consist of a full range of tier 2 medical duties, including on call shifts.

The Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department is based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and forms part of the Trust\'s Surgical Business Unit.We are committed to providing a modern, high quality obstetrics & gynaecological service for the women of Gateshead. We have developed astrong multidisciplinary team and there are excellent links with otherObstetrics & Gynaecology units within the region.For further details please see attached Job Description.

Job responsibilities

The post offers a wide exposure to general Obstetrics and Gynaecology as well as the opportunity to develop skills in subspecialty areas includingurogynaecology, assisted reproduction, minimal access surgery, maternal medicine and high risk obstetrics. All general clinics and theatresessions are supervised directly by consultants.

The successful candidate will take part in a full shift rota, with 7 other trainees on the tier two rota. When on call you will be supported by a tier one doctor on site and a consultant from home. Nights are done in 3 night or 4 night batches with no daytime duties.
