The predicted salary is between 46000 - 52000 £ per year.

Please note that applicants MUST have agreed support from their substantive line manager prior to applying for this fixed term secondment. We are looking for a confident and enthusiastic individual to work within Cancer Services to lead the existing Living With and Beyond Cancer programme for all patients and families managing the challenges of a cancer diagnosis. You will be an experienced and compassionate leader, supporting operational, administrative and clinical teams to deliver high quality, supportive cancer care. The successful applicant will have experience of service development and project management, managing and delivering change effectively on complex projects. They should be motivated and use initiative to manage own workload without supervision to agreed deadlines. This fixed term secondment offers an opportunity for support, development and networking. The successful applicant will lead the delivery of Personalised Cancer Care within the Trust and be responsible for the required programme of work in collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders. You will have an interest and experience in service improvement and will be a responsive and autonomous leader. The post will provide you with an opportunity to work closely with colleagues enhancing cancer pathways and ensuring timely access to all aspects of Personalised Cancer Care. Main duties of the job

  • The post holder will lead on the continued development and transformation of the Trusts Living With and Beyond Cancer Programme.
  • The post holder is responsible for leading the roll out of personalised cancer care as a way of working across the Trust, influencing the Clinical Nurse Specialists and supportive/assistive workforce, and the wider MDT to adopt these principles.
  • This will enable all cancer services to develop and embed an effective process for each intervention of the Recovery Package including Holistic Needs Assessments and Personalised Care and Support Plans, Treatment Summaries, Health and Well‑being events as well as Personalised Stratified follow‑up.
  • Operating within a project management methodology, the post holder will develop plans, identify risks and solutions, communicate clearly the vision for the project and influence behaviour change.
  • The role will work closely with the Lead Cancer Nurse and Clinical Nurse Specialists to ensure the voice of the person living with cancer is represented throughout the project.
  • The post holder will also be responsible for delivery of the Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Service, ensuring the effective provision of all aspects of Macmillan's programme of cancer support throughout the patient pathway.
  • Ensuring effective and collaborative working relationships are established and maintained within the Trust, primary care and external organisations at all levels.

Job responsibilities

  • The post holder will ensure the delivery of efficient and effective planning and implementation of the personalised care agenda.
  • Accountable and responsible to the Macmillan Lead Cancer Nurse.
  • Responsible for the Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Service and team.
  • The post holder will be required to line manage the Macmillan Cancer Support Manager.
  • The post holder will work with cancer multi‑disciplinary teams on the delivery of the personalised care agenda.
  • Support service leads in the delivery of service transformation and embedding of risk stratified and patient‑initiated follow‑up.
  • Liaise with clinical and administrative teams to produce appropriate processes to support the development of the services.
  • Liaise with primary care partners with regards to service development and potential changes within primary care.
  • Support business process change and service improvement planning.
  • Effective communication of projects benefits, justification and progress to all stakeholders.
  • Raise awareness to support the delivery of the project.

Person Specification

  • Qualifications: Specialist training diploma, management qualification or significant theoretical and practical experience to Masters Level or equivalent Teaching qualification.
  • Skills: Ability to build relationships and understanding with frontline staff, in order to properly identify and implement business change requirements as part of the project. Excellent communication, interpersonal, organisational and presentation skills. Able to promote and facilitate change. Demonstrate effective management and leadership skills.
  • Experience: Significant experience of managing and implementation of change projects within an NHS environment. Experience of designing, delivering and evaluating training to support project implementation and sustainable change. Experience of working within the NHS. Knowledge of operational management and an in depth understanding of the issues which enable effective functioning of cancer clinical services and pathways. Experience or involvement in developments in the use of information technology to support clinical practice. Experience of staff management.
  • Knowledge: General understanding of IT / IG guidance/regulations that apply to the NHS, including Freedom of Information Act 2000, Data Protection Act 2018 and Caldicott Principles. Demonstrable knowledge of Business Change and Benefits management. An understanding of existing NHS national policies, and an appreciation of the cultural organisational, professional, and technical changes which will impact future strategic developments. Knowledge of clinical systems.
