The post holder will be part of the Practice Education Team.

Lead and coordinate the development, implementation, and evaluation of nursing apprenticeship and emerging nursing workforce programmes across the Trust.

Act as the Trust's lead contact for nursing apprenticeships and emerging nursing roles, liaising with internal and external stakeholders, including NHS England, Higher Education Institutions, and the NMC.

Represent the Trust at local, regional, and national forums relating to nursing apprenticeships.

Work collaboratively within the Practice Education Team to support practice placements, recruitment, retention, and apprenticeship programme delivery.

Provide expert advice and guidance on nursing apprenticeships, practice learning, and workforce development initiatives.

Contribute to the delivery of high-quality learning environments and positive educational outcomes for nursing apprentices and learners.

Support the Trust's strategic workforce objectives through the development of apprenticeship and education pathways

Main duties of the job

Serve as a resource to ward/dept. managers, assessors, supervisors, trainees and placement providers in relation to Trainee Nursing Associates and other nursing apprenticeship programme requirements.

Provide line management functions for learners where appropriate - e.g. BSc student nurse apprentices.

Maintain and overview of funding and income in relation to nursing apprenticeships.

Communicate verbally and in writing to colleagues, managers, and across professional boundaries, and with external stakeholders such as Higher Education Institutions as required in the role.

Maintain appropriate records of meetings and work undertaken and provide information to senior team regarding progress on work objectives.

Communicates effectively at meetings and forums.

Develop effective communication networks within the Trust, and with external stakeholders.

Required on occasion to use influencing and/or negotiating skills, with placement providers both internal and external to the Trust.

Organise and facilitate meetings within the scope of the role.

Undertake placement planning for trainees, working collaboratively with placement providers and Practice Placement Facilitators

Planning, preparation and co-ordination of ongoing support for trainees including regular placement visits focus groups and education sessions.

Manage and maintain own day to day workload under direction of line manager.

Contribute to the planning of events e.g. conference, workshops, recruitment events

Undertake placement planning for trainees, working collaboratively with placement providers and Practice Placement Facilitators

Planning, preparation and co-ordination of ongoing support for trainees including regular placement visits focus groups and education sessions.

Implement monitor and adjust work plans where necessary.

Contribute to the planning of events e.g. conference, workshops, recruitment events

Maintenance of NMC registration, meeting the requirements of NMC revalidation.

Demonstrates the competence and professional credibility required to support trainees and new registrants with regards to clinical and professional practice.

Act as a role model within their sphere of influence, supporting mangers mentors and trainees in the delivery of practice learning.

Occasional direct contact with patients while visiting learners in practice.

Evidence

  • o1st level Registered Nurse and Educated to graduate level in Nursing/Health related subject
  • oSignificant clinical experience oExperience of practice assessor role/preceptor role and supporting junior staff.
  • oInvolvement in delivering training/education in a group setting
  • oEmerging knowledge and understanding of Nursing Apprenticeships
  • oAbility to take part in reflective practice/clinical supervision activities
  • oExperience of audit
  • oUK Driving Licence Holder.
  • oEvidence of MSC level study or equivalent experience
