This position offers the chance to be part of a vibrant, growing team providing effective emergency medicine to the people of Gateshead and surrounding areas, aiming to innovate patient management in emergency care.

Our department features a 4-bed Resus pod (expandable to 8 beds) with a dedicated paediatric resus bay, along with three monitored majors\’ pods, and two triage rooms for walk-in patients.

Main duties of the job

We seek highly motivated nurses capable of maintaining high-quality patient care under extreme pressure. You should be able to manage prolonged stressful situations with support from a large multidisciplinary team.

Applicants must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be organized, dedicated, and committed to continuous professional development (CPD). Willingness to undertake A&E-specific training and complete the RCN Level 1 Emergency Nurse competencies within 12 months is required.

The role involves working day and night shifts, including weekends.

Job responsibilities

  • Promote and deliver patient-centered care aligned with the Trust\’s vision and Nursing and Midwifery strategy.
  • Lead in the absence of senior staff.
  • Deliver care, demonstrate procedures, and supervise staff as needed.
  • Manage patients\’ clinical journeys along approved care pathways, supported by evidence-based practice.
  • Ensure safe, effective, and compassionate care following national standards and the NMC Code.
  • Support service improvements within the clinical governance framework.
  • Provide clinical advice to the nursing and multidisciplinary team.
  • Maintain professional development to meet service requirements.
  • Participate in preceptorship, mentorship, and development programs.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Nursing
  • Registered Nurse Part 1 with current NMC registration

Skills

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and clinical skills
