About the role…
This role focuses on supporting young people and adults with learning disabilities to access meaningful learning and employment opportunities. It involves building strong relationships with learners, families, employers, and professionals to ensure inclusive support. Key duties include identifying and securing high-quality work placements, conducting health and safety assessments, and providing tailored guidance to employers and mentors. The role also supports progression into placements volunteering, paid work, apprenticeships, and further education.
Direct support for individuals includes mentoring and coaching to build confidence, resilience, and workplace readiness-covering travel training, dress code, and workplace culture. One-to-one job coaching is delivered using systematic instruction and tailored aids. The role also includes attending promotional events and completing administrative tasks to ensure effective delivery of the Learning and Skills offer.

The team…
Gateshead Council Learning & Skills want to recruit job coach to support students 16-18 with barriers to learning.
With experience of working with learners with a wide range of support and learning needs you will be part of a team developing and supporting our learners into work placements, supporting our induction process and supporting the development of learner personal development plans. We are looking for someone who has an innovative and inclusive approach, with experience in sourcing placements, placement preparation planning and supporting learners into and beyond their placement. You will have an excellent knowledge of local labour market information as well as possessing excellent communication and behaviour management skills.
The role will require frequent interaction and site visits with clients and our external employers and good administrative skills will be needed.
You will be self-motivated with a dedication to student achievement along with the ability to prioritise workloads and respond flexibly as situations demand.
Applicants should be qualified to Level 2 English, Maths and IAG.

You\'ll be paid a competitive salary of £26,824 - £28,142 per annum We\'ll help you save for your future with an outstanding employer contribution to your pension.
You will receive an annual leave entitlement starting at 28 days per year (pro-rata for part time employees) rising to 32, 2 of which may be fixed by the council at any time. You also have the chance to buy up to 10 additional holidays per year.
You\'ll have the opportunity to participate in the Council\'s Flexi time scheme, subject to management approval and business needs, which could be up to 26 flexi days per year.
