The Governors and Headteacher of Front Street Primary School in Gateshead wish to appoint an experienced Level 3 Teaching Assistant who can assist in the educational and social development of pupils under the direction and guidance of the SENDCO and class teachers for September 2026. We are looking for a flexible, highly motivated Level 3 Teaching Assistant with experience of delivering interventions to help children make progress.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Has worked with children who have social and communication difficulties.
  • Has an outstanding record of working well within a team demonstrating a positive attitude, enthusiasm, dedication and commitment.
  • Has recent experience of working with children in a primary school setting.
  • Holds a Level 3 Teaching Assistant / NVQ Qualification as a minimum essential requirement.

Key responsibilities will involve the following:

  • Working on a 1:1 or small group basis with SEND students.
  • Supervising and reviewing individual lesson objectives.
  • Liaising regularly with the SENDCO and learning support staff to review student progress.

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Establish productive working relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and setting high expectations.
  • Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils within the classroom and outdoors.
  • Contribute to the planning, preparation and resources of learning activities including adjusting activities according to pupils’ needs.
  • Be able to carry out observational assessments and understand the importance of feedback in promoting progress for all learners.
  • Display excellent communication skills.
