What You'll Get To Do

  • Deliver and monitor public health priorities, the Health and Wellbeing Strategy and Thrive Agenda to achieve meaningful outcomes.
  • Analyse, interpret and present complex public health intelligence in clear, accessible, and statistically robust ways for diverse audiences.
  • Provide proactive, expert analytical advice to public health colleagues and Council officers to inform planning and decision‑making.
  • Develop and enhance public health data systems and datasets, working with partners and making effective use of emerging technologies.
  • Apply professional judgement to statistical analysis, clearly explaining conclusions to provide assurance and support learning.
  • Coordinate, validate and quality‑assure data from multiple sources, identifying and resolving data quality issues.
  • Support and lead the development of the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) and deliver targeted intelligence projects, including inequalities and equity audits.
  • Use evidence and insight to support policy development, respond to legislative change and advise senior leaders and partners.

What You'll Bring

  • A relevant degree or professional qualification, or equivalent experience in an analytical or public health intelligence role.
  • Strong understanding of the data, analytics and intelligence needs of local government and the wider health and care system, including relevant public health legislation, national strategies, policies and interventions.
  • In‑depth knowledge of health inequalities, social determinants of health and the effective use of health and demographic datasets to inform decision‑making.
  • Proven experience applying statistical techniques to health data, including standardisation, confidence intervals and statistical process control for surveillance, needs assessment, audit and commissioning.
  • Demonstrable ability to analyse large, complex and linked datasets across multiple information systems, presenting findings clearly and accurately to a range of audiences.
  • Experience working effectively within a local authority or specialist service environment, providing balanced, evidence‑based advice and influencing senior leaders and stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, problem‑solving and information governance skills, including confident use of GDPR and data protection requirements, tailoring analysis for different audiences and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
