Supporting children and young people to thrive The Low Incidence Needs Team (LINT) is part of Gateshead Council's SEN Inclusion Service and provides specialist support for children and young people aged 0-25 with hearing, vision, multi-sensory impairment and physical and/or medical needs. Working across homes, nurseries, schools and colleges, the team supports children and young people to overcome barriers and fully engage in education and everyday life. As a Hearing Technologies Technician, you will play a key role in ensuring children and young people with hearing loss have access to reliable and effective hearing technology. Working alongside Teachers of the Deaf, families, educational settings and health professionals, you will help maximise the benefits of specialist equipment and support positive outcomes for children and young people across Gateshead.

• Maintain, test and troubleshoot a range of specialist hearing technologies used by children and young people with hearing loss.
• Support the use of hearing aids, cochlear implant accessories, bone-conduction devices and classroom sound-field systems.
• Diagnose equipment issues and carry out repairs, maintenance and routine servicing where appropriate.
• Provide practical advice and support to schools, families and educational settings on the effective use of specialist hearing technology.
• Deliver training and demonstrations to staff and stakeholders to promote confidence in the use and maintenance of equipment.
• Work closely with Teachers of the Deaf, educational settings, families and health professionals to minimise barriers to learning.
• Maintain accurate records relating to equipment, servicing, repairs and support provided.
• Contribute to the ongoing development of a high-quality service that improves outcomes for children and young people with hearing loss.
  A British Sign Language (BSL) Level 1 qualification.
• A recognised Audiology Technician qualification, or a commitment to successfully complete the required training and achieve qualification as an Audiology Technician within two years of appointment.
• GCSEs (or equivalent qualifications) at Grade 5/C or above in English, Maths, Science and IT.
• Experience of supporting children and young people within an educational, health, social care or specialist support setting.
• The ability to communicate effectively with children and young people, parents and carers, teachers, school staff, audiology services and other professional stakeholders.
• Experience of using Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and Outlook, to maintain accurate records, manage information and support service delivery.
• A full driving licence and access to a vehicle, or the ability to travel independently to multiple locations across Gateshead as required by the role.
