The team… You will be joining the Energy Services team, an exciting and diverse team of officers who are leading the way with the development of our District Energy Network. We support the Council, the borough and the residents of Gateshead with energy efficiency measures, working towards our decarbonisation goals and our aim to provide low cost, low carbon heat for the people of Gateshead. We work dynamically to deliver at pace and have big ambitions to expand our work and continue to lead the way with decarbonising energy. About the role…. You will join the team at an exciting time as our District Energy Scheme continues to expand following the recent addition of our mine water heat pump, looking at adding new connections and growing our customer base. In addition, the team is embarking on new projects involving more district heat networks, home insulation and renewable energy schemes – most of which are funded by public grants. You will report directly to the Energy Services Manager, and line manage a team of 5 officers, being responsible for:

• leading the team to support them to grow and develop in their roles
• customer management for a varied customer base
• managing and developing operational procedures
• overseeing project management related to the projects, typically NEC
• ensuring operations are compliant in areas such as health and safety
• improving service delivery
• engaging with stakeholders
• and any other duties appropriate for the grade.

Knowledge we\’re looking for

• government policy and legislation on energy schemes
• local energy policies and issues in Gateshead
• low carbon and renewable technologies, ideally around heat networks
• a degree OR equivalent experience in an energy, environmental or sustainability discipline
• leading a customer service team
• leading a team
• business case development
• energy management
• project management
