Job Overview

Casual Acting for Screen Tutor – delivery of high‑quality practical acting sessions within evening course provision at Gateshead College, Baltic Campus.

Responsibilities

• Plan, deliver and evaluate engaging Acting for Screen sessions for college learners.
• Teach the differences between screen acting and stage performance.
• Support learners with script breakdown, character development and performance preparation.
• Develop students’ understanding of emotional truth, subtext and naturalistic performance techniques.
• Facilitate rehearsal processes and support scene work with partners.
• Deliver genre‑based acting workshops and performance activities.
• Support students in creating self‑tapes, filmed scenes and professional showreel content.

Skills & Experience

• Professional experience in acting for screen, film, television or digital media.
• Strong understanding of screen acting methodologies and rehearsal techniques.
• Knowledge of script analysis, character development and performance preparation.
• Experience of self‑taping and filmed performance processes.
• Understanding of industry expectations, casting processes and professional practice.

Qualifications

• Degree, Diploma or equivalent qualification in Acting, Performing Arts, Drama or a related discipline (desired).
• Recognised industry training or substantial professional acting experience.

Contract & Salary

Salary: £33.92 per hour plus £4.09 holiday pay. Basis: Casual. Approx. 3 hours per week, working every Tuesday, until 12th January 2027.
