Gateshead College is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic BSL Support Officer to join our Learning Support team on a fixed-term basis. This is an exciting opportunity to make a genuine difference to the educational experience of Deaf learners by ensuring they can fully access learning, develop independence and achieve their potential. Working alongside curriculum and support staff, you will provide specialist BSL communication support across a range of learning environments, helping learners participate confidently in college life and progress towards their individual goals.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about inclusion, committed to learner success and able to build positive relationships with both learners and colleagues. You will have:

  • BSL Level 3 qualification or above.
  • Experience providing BSL communication support.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to equality, inclusion and learner-centred support.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
